The Ultimate Hamburger Potato Casserole recipe combines flavorful ground beef, tender russet potatoes, and melted cheddar cheese, all enveloped in a creamy mushroom soup sauce. Perfect for a hearty family dinner!

  • 1 ½ pounds of ground beef
  • 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can (10.75 oz) of condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • ¾ cup of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Add chopped onion to the skillet and cook until translucent. Season with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • In a large bowl, mix the condensed cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth.
  • Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Spread the cooked beef mixture evenly over the potatoes.
  • Pour half of the soup mixture over the beef.
  • Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  • Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef, soup mixture, and cheese.
  • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, consider adding a splash of Worcestershire sauce to the beef mixture. This casserole can also be prepared in advance and refrigerated before baking.
