  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage, casing removed
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 refrigerated pie crust
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook ground beef and sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain excess grease.
  3. Add diced onion, Italian seasoning, and crushed red pepper flakes. Cook until onion is tender.
  4. Stir in marinara sauce and cook for 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat.
  5. Roll out the pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish.
  6. Layer the beef mixture in the crust and top with mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
  7. Cover with another pie crust, seal the edges, and cut small slits for ventilation.
  8. Brush the top with beaten egg.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
  10. Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
