  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 can (4 oz) mushrooms
  • 2 cups macaroni, uncooked
  • 8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, grated or shredded

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet, cook ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain any excess fat.
  • Stir in the minced garlic, salt, pepper, and thyme, cooking for an additional minute.
  • Add the cream of mushroom soup, milk, and canned mushrooms to the skillet, stirring to combine.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the uncooked macaroni and the beef mixture, mixing well.
  • Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Top with grated sharp cheddar cheese.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Let the casserole sit for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a dash of Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce to the beef mixture.
