Traditional green bean casserole recipe with cheddar cheese, cream of mushroom soup, garlic, and crispy fried onions. This comforting dish is easy to prepare, perfect for family dinners, especially during holidays like Thanksgiving. Made with frozen, canned, or fresh beans for flexibility.

  • 4 cups green beans (thawed frozen, canned, or fresh)
  • 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup (10.75 oz)
  • 2-3 cups cheddar cheese, divided
  • 2 cloves garlic, pressed or minced
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 10 oz cheddar-flavor French Fried onions

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine green beans, mushroom soup, garlic, onion powder, and 1-2 cups of cheddar cheese. Mix well.
  • Transfer the mixture to a baking dish.
  • Top with remaining cheddar cheese and half of the French fried onions.
  • Bake for 25 minutes, then sprinkle the rest of the fried onions and bake for another 5-10 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can use fresh, frozen, or canned green beans. Adjust the seasoning to taste.
  • For extra crunch, add more fried onions.
