This toasted Italian sandwich recipe combines layers of deli meats, melted cheese, and tangy Italian dressing in a perfectly toasted bread. Quick, easy, and bursting with bold Italian flavors, it’s the ideal comfort food for a satisfying lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 large Italian hoagie roll or ciabatta bread
  • 4 slices of deli salami
  • 4 slices of deli ham
  • 4 slices of pepperoni
  • 2 slices of provolone cheese
  • 1 tbsp Italian dressing
  • 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
  • 2 slices of tomato
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • Pinch of salt and pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat a skillet or panini press to medium heat.
  • Slice the hoagie roll in half lengthwise. Spread mayonnaise on the inside of each half.
  • Layer salami, ham, pepperoni, and provolone cheese on the bottom half of the bread.
  • Drizzle with Italian dressing and sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper.
  • Close the sandwich and brush the outside of the bread with olive oil.
  • Toast the sandwich on the skillet or press until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted (about 5–7 minutes).
  • Remove from the heat, open the sandwich, and add shredded lettuce and tomato slices. Close the sandwich, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add banana peppers or pickled jalapeños.
  • Substitute meats or cheeses to your preference.
  • Serve with chips or a side salad for a complete meal.
