Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 large onion (sliced)
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season chicken breasts with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sear chicken on both sides until golden brown, then remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add butter and sliced onions. Cook until onions are soft and caramelized.
  4. Stir in flour, cooking for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
  5. Gradually add chicken broth and heavy cream, whisking until smooth. Let the sauce simmer until it thickens.
  6. Return the chicken to the skillet, spooning the gravy over the chicken. Cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with mashed potatoes or rice.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
  • Bone-in chicken can also be used but may require longer cooking time.
  • Add a pinch of cayenne pepper for extra heat.
