  • ½ green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 1 cup tomato sauce (or tomato passata)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon pepper (or to taste)

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onion and green bell pepper, cooking until softened.
  • Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  • Add the ground beef to the skillet, cooking until browned and no longer pink.
  • Stir in the ketchup, tomato sauce, brown sugar, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • Simmer the mixture for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  • Serve the Sloppy Joes on buns.
