Sticky Honey Chicken is a flavorful dish with tender chicken coated in a sweet and savory honey glaze. This easy recipe is perfect for family dinners and pairs well with rice or vegetables.

  • 1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil or vegetable oil
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add chicken pieces and cook until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
  • In a bowl, mix honey, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, ginger, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper.
  • Pour the sauce over the cooked chicken and stir well. Let it simmer for 3-4 minutes.
  • Mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Add to the pan and stir until the sauce thickens.
  • Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
  • Serve hot with rice or steamed vegetables.

Notes

  • Use chicken thighs for a juicier result.
  • Adjust honey and soy sauce to taste.
  • Can be made with tofu or shrimp as a variation.
