This quick and spicy shrimp soup is the perfect combination of heat and savory seafood flavors.   • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 cups seafood or chicken broth
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce or fish sauce
  • 1 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 green onion, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a pot over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, sauté until fragrant.
  • Stir in red pepper flakes, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Cook for 30 seconds to release flavors.
  • Pour in diced tomatoes, broth, soy sauce (or fish sauce), salt, and black pepper. Bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes to blend flavors.
  • Add shrimp and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until shrimp turn pink and opaque.
  • Remove from heat and stir in lime juice and cilantro.
  • Serve hot, garnished with green onions.

Notes

  • Adjust spice level by adding more or less red pepper flakes and cayenne.
