Delicious pizza toasts featuring a quick pizza sauce with passata, tomato paste, and Italian seasoning, topped with mozzarella, ham, tomatoes, and onions. Perfect for a fast, nutritious meal or snack.

  • 4 tablespoons passata
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pinch of Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sweetener
  • 2 slices (2oz/60g) whole wheat bread
  • 50g/2oz mozzarella cheese, grated or sliced
  • 1 large vine tomato, sliced thinly
  • Half a small red onion, sliced
  • 2 slices lean ham, sliced
  • Salt and black pepper
  • Splash of balsamic vinegar
  • Spray oil
  • Freshly chopped Italian parsley or basil

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven or grill.
  • In a small bowl, mix passata, tomato paste, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and granulated sweetener to make the sauce.
  • Lightly toast the whole wheat bread slices.
  • Spread the quick pizza sauce evenly over the toast.
  • Top with mozzarella cheese, sliced tomatoes, red onion, and ham.
  • Season with salt, black pepper, and a splash of balsamic vinegar.
  • Spray with oil and grill or bake until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Garnish with freshly chopped parsley or basil before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute ham with other proteins like chicken or keep it vegetarian.
  • Adjust the sweetness of the sauce to your liking by adding more or less sweetener.
  • Use gluten-free bread if necessary.
