Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup ketchup (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, onion, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Flatten the meat mixture into a large rectangle on a sheet of parchment paper.
  4. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella evenly over the meat, leaving a small border around the edges.
  5. Carefully roll the meatloaf into a log, sealing the edges to keep the cheese inside.
  6. Place the meatloaf seam-side down in a greased loaf pan or baking sheet.
  7. (Optional) Spread ketchup over the top for added flavor.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  9. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use fresh mozzarella slices instead of shredded for an extra cheesy center.
  • Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a slight kick.
  • Pair with mashed potatoes or roasted veggies for a complete meal.
