This Italian Grinder Sub recipe features layers of flavorful Italian deli meats, creamy cheese, crisp vegetables, and tangy dressing, creating the perfect hearty sandwich bursting with classic Italian flavors.

Ingredients

  • 1 Italian sub roll or hoagie roll
  • 4-5 slices salami
  • 4-5 slices pepperoni
  • 4-5 slices capicola or ham
  • 2 slices provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup shredded lettuce
  • 2-3 slices tomato
  • 2-3 slices red onion
  • 1/4 cup banana peppers
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp Italian dressing or oil and vinegar
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Slice the Italian sub roll in half and lightly toast if desired.
  2. Spread mayonnaise on the inside of both halves of the roll.
  3. Layer the bottom half with salami, pepperoni, and capicola.
  4. Add the slices of provolone cheese over the meat.
  5. Top with shredded lettuce, tomato slices, red onion, and banana peppers.
  6. Drizzle Italian dressing (or oil and vinegar) over the toppings.
  7. Sprinkle with dried oregano, salt, and pepper.
  8. Close the sandwich, press gently, and slice in half. Serve immediately.

  • You can customize the meats and cheeses to your preference.
  • Add extra spice with jalapeños or crushed red pepper flakes.
