Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 hotdogs
  • 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough (or puff pastry)
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash, optional)
  • Mustard or ketchup (for decoration)
  • Candy eyes (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Open the can of crescent roll dough and separate it into 4 rectangles. Press the perforated seams together.
  • Using a knife or pizza cutter, slice each rectangle into thin strips (about 1/4 inch wide).
  • Wrap each hotdog with dough strips, leaving small gaps for the “mummy” face. Stretch and overlap the dough slightly to give a wrapped look.
  • If desired, lightly brush the dough with egg wash for a golden finish.
  • Place the wrapped hotdogs on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly.
  • Use mustard or ketchup to dot “eyes” on the mummy’s face, or attach candy eyes for a spookier look.
  • Serve warm with extra ketchup or mustard for dipping.

Notes

  • You can use mini hotdogs or cocktail sausages to make bite-sized mummy dogs.
  • Make ahead tip: Prepare the wrapped hotdogs, cover them, and refrigerate until ready to bake.
