Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 medium onion, chopped
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup uncooked orzo pasta
  • 1 (14 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 3/4 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy/whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups fresh baby spinach (packed)
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef and chopped onion in a large skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and cook until fragrant.
  2. Stir in crushed red pepper flakes and Italian seasoning.
  3. Add the uncooked orzo, tomato sauce, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for about 10 minutes, until the orzo is almost tender.
  4. Stir in the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese, cooking for an additional 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Add baby spinach and cook until wilted. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve hot with extra Parmesan if desired.

Notes

  • Adjust the spice level by adding more or less crushed red pepper flakes.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
