  • 1 Tablespoon peanut oil (or vegetable/olive oil)
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • Salt/white pepper to taste
  • Sauce:
    • 2 Tablespoons cornstarch + 2 tablespoons cold water
    • 1 cup beef broth
    • 1/4 cup soy sauce
    • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
    • 1-2 tablespoons honey
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
    • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • For serving: 3 cups cooked rice

Instructions

  • Heat peanut oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add broccoli florets and stir-fry until tender, about 4-5 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, cook ground beef until browned. Add diced onion and red bell pepper. Season with salt and white pepper, cook until softened.
  • In a bowl, whisk together cornstarch and cold water, then add beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil.
  • Pour sauce into the skillet, simmer until thickened. Stir in cooked broccoli.
  • Serve the mixture over cooked rice.

Notes

  • Substitute peanut oil with vegetable or olive oil if needed.
  • Adjust honey for desired sweetness.
