  • 32 ounces frozen pierogies (2 boxes, any variety)
  • 1 pound kielbasa, cut into 1-inch slices
  • 3 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 ounces block-style cream cheese
  • ½ cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • Toppings:
    • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
    • Green onions, diced

Instructions

 

  1. Place the frozen pierogies and kielbasa slices into the crockpot.
  2. Pour 3 cups of low-sodium chicken broth over the pierogies and kielbasa. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours or until pierogies are tender and kielbasa is heated through.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine 4 ounces of cream cheese, ½ cup of chicken broth, and ½ cup of sour cream. Stir until smooth.
  5. Pour the cream cheese mixture over the cooked pierogies and kielbasa in the crockpot.
  6. Stir in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the top. Cover and cook for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
  8. Serve topped with diced green onions.

  • You can use any variety of pierogies you prefer, such as potato and cheese or onion and bacon.
  • For a spicier kick, try adding some diced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the cream cheese mixture.
