  • 6-8 thin sliced chicken breasts
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tbs hot sauce
  • Oil for frying
  • Gravy:
  • 1/4 cup reserved oil from frying
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • Salt & pepper

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a bowl.
  2. In another bowl, whisk buttermilk, egg, and hot sauce.
  3. Coat chicken in flour mixture, dip in buttermilk mixture, then coat again in flour.
  4. Heat oil in a frying pan and fry chicken until golden brown.
  5. To make the gravy, reserve 1/4 cup of frying oil. Add flour and cook until lightly browned.
  6. Slowly whisk in milk, stirring until smooth. Season with salt and pepper. Serve gravy over chicken.

Notes

  • For extra crispy chicken, double dip the chicken in the flour mixture.
