  • ⅓ cup chopped onion
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon seasoning salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • ¾ cup sour cream, or more to taste
  • 1 tablespoon liquid smoke, or to taste (Optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add mushrooms and onions, cooking until tender.
  • Add ground beef to the skillet, cooking until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Stir in flour, garlic powder, seasoning salt, paprika, and black pepper. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
  • Add condensed cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, liquid smoke (if using), and Worcestershire sauce. Stir until well combined.
  • Simmer the mixture for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until heated through and thickened.
  • Serve over cooked egg noodles or rice.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, consider using fresh garlic and seasoning the beef with a splash of red wine.
  • Adjust the sour cream to your taste preference for creaminess.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
