Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak (thinly sliced)
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/4 cup beef broth or water
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Slice beef thinly against the grain. Toss with 1 tbsp soy sauce and 1 tbsp cornstarch. Set aside to marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Stir-fry the beef until browned, then remove and set aside.
  3. Add garlic to the pan and sauté until fragrant. Add broccoli and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.
  4. In a small bowl, mix 2 tbsp soy sauce, oyster sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, and 1 tbsp cornstarch.
  5. Return beef to the pan, pour in the sauce, and stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Drizzle with sesame oil, toss, and serve hot over rice or noodles.

Notes

  • Substitute chicken or tofu for beef if desired.
  • Blanch broccoli for 1 minute before stir-frying for extra tenderness.
  • Adjust the sweetness or saltiness of the sauce based on personal preference.
