Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, mix together all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt.
  • Cut the cold butter into the dry ingredients using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring just until combined.
  • Fold in the chopped apples.
  • Drop spoonfuls of batter onto the prepared baking sheet, forming small mounds.
  • Bake for 15–18 minutes until the fritters are golden brown and cooked through.
  • While the fritters are baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together confectioner’s sugar, milk, and vanilla extract.
