Scale
  • 2 cups apples, peeled and chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)

For the Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan.

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Gradually add to the sugar mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in apples and walnuts (if using). Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • For the glaze, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add brown sugar and milk, bringing to a boil. Simmer for 2 minutes, then pour over the hot cake.
  • Allow cake to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg to the batter.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
  • Substitute pecans for walnuts if desired.
