  • 1 ½ pounds fresh green beans, rinsed, trimmed, and halved
  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1 ¼ cups half-and-half or whole milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup French’s fried onions

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Boil the green beans in salted water for 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  • In a skillet, melt butter and sauté garlic for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Stir in flour to make a roux, then slowly whisk in chicken broth and half-and-half. Simmer until thickened.
  • Season with salt and black pepper.
  • Add the green beans to the sauce, stirring to coat evenly.
  • Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and top with French’s fried onions.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes, until bubbly and golden brown on top.
