  • 6 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ cup chicken broth (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, sauté the diced onion in the bacon grease until soft, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the green beans to the skillet and cook for about 7-8 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in the brown sugar, garlic powder, black pepper, and chicken broth (if using).
  • Continue cooking until the green beans are tender and the liquid has reduced.
  • Season with salt to taste and mix in the cooked bacon before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, you can replace chicken broth with beef broth or use vegetable stock for a vegetarian version. Adjust the sweetness by reducing the brown sugar if desired.
