  • 1 tsp sugar

  • ½ cup warm water

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • ¼ cup plain yogurt

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¼ cup melted butter or ghee (for brushing)

  • Optional: minced garlic, chopped cilantro

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 10 minutes until frothy.

  2. Add flour, yogurt, olive oil, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. Knead dough for 5–7 minutes until smooth.

  4. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  5. Divide into 6–8 balls. Roll each into an oval or circle.

  6. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each naan for 1–2 minutes per side until bubbly and golden.

  7. Brush with melted butter or ghee, and sprinkle with optional toppings. Serve warm.

Notes

  • You can add garlic or herbs to the dough for extra flavor.

  • Naan can be frozen and reheated.
