This easy cheese Danish recipe features a rich and creamy filling made from cream cheese, sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract, all wrapped in flaky puff pastry. Perfect for breakfast or a sweet snack.

  • 1 large egg plus 1 yolk
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 3 tablespoons sugar, plus more for dusting
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • One 17.3-ounce box frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a bowl, beat the egg yolk, cream cheese, sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Roll out the puff pastry sheets and cut them into squares.
  • Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each square.
  • Fold the corners of the squares toward the center and press to seal.
  • Brush the tops with the beaten egg and sprinkle with additional sugar.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving.
