Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef (sirloin or flank steak), thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, garlic, ginger, cornstarch, water, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add beef slices and cook until browned, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Pour the teriyaki sauce over the beef and stir well. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef.
  • Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
  • Serve hot over rice or noodles.

Notes

  • For extra tenderness, marinate the beef in half of the sauce for 15 minutes before cooking.
  • Adjust sweetness or saltiness by modifying the brown sugar or soy sauce.
  • Add vegetables like bell peppers or broccoli for extra flavor and nutrition.
