Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 lb lump crab meat
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 celery stalk, chopped
  • 1 carrot, chopped
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups seafood stock
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup white wine
  • 1/2 tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat. Sauté onion, garlic, celery, and carrot until soft.
  • Stir in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  • Gradually add seafood stock and white wine, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
  • Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes.
  • Blend the mixture until smooth, then return to the pot.
  • Stir in heavy cream, Old Bay seasoning, paprika, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
  • Add shrimp and cook until pink, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Gently fold in crab meat and simmer for another 2 minutes.
  • Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • For extra richness, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
  • Adjust spice levels by increasing or reducing cayenne pepper.
  • Use fresh or frozen seafood for best results.
