Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 bone-in pork chops
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (for gravy)
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Prepare Pork Chops: Pat pork chops dry. In a bowl, mix flour, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Dredging: In another bowl, whisk buttermilk and egg. Dip pork chops in the wet mixture, then coat in the seasoned flour.
  • Fry Pork Chops: Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry pork chops for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  • Make Bacon Gravy: In the same skillet, cook chopped bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside. Add butter to the skillet, then stir in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  • Finish Gravy: Slowly whisk in milk, stirring constantly until thickened. Add crispy bacon back in and season with salt & pepper.
  • Serve: Pour bacon gravy over the fried pork chops and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure pork reaches 145°F internally.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes or biscuits for a classic Southern meal.
