  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups red and green M&Ms

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla to the butter mixture and mix until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined.
  6. Fold in 1 cup of M&Ms, reserving some for topping.
  7. Scoop dough onto the prepared baking sheets, about 2 tablespoons per cookie.
  8. Press a few extra M&Ms on top of each dough ball.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

  • For chewier cookies, avoid overbaking.
  • Substitute regular M&Ms with holiday-themed M&Ms for other occasions.
  • Dough can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 3 days.
