These chai-spiced cinnamon rolls are packed with warm flavors like cinnamon, cardamom, and ginger. Perfectly soft and fluffy, they’re topped with a sweet glaze for the ultimate treat.

For the Dough:

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¾ cup warm milk

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 egg

For the Filling:

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon

  • 1 tsp cardamom

  • ½ tsp ginger

  • ¼ tsp cloves

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 2 tbsp milk

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Prepare the Dough: In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Add flour, salt, melted butter, and egg. Knead until smooth. Let rise for 1 hour.

  • Make the Filling: Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, and cloves.

  • Roll and Fill: Roll dough into a rectangle. Spread softened butter and sprinkle filling evenly. Roll tightly and cut into 12 rolls.

  • Second Rise: Place rolls in a greased baking dish. Let rise for 30 minutes.

  • Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

 

  • Glaze: Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Drizzle over warm rolls. Enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of black pepper to the filling.

 

  • Can be made ahead and refrigerated overnight before baking.
