Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread the pecans on a baking sheet and toast them in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until fragrant. Set aside.
  • In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sugar and kosher salt, stirring constantly until the mixture reaches 300°F (150°C) on a candy thermometer (hard crack stage).
  • Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Immediately pour the hot toffee mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and spread evenly.
  • Sprinkle the milk chocolate chips over the hot toffee. Let them sit for a minute or two to melt, then spread the chocolate evenly over the toffee.
  • Sprinkle the toasted pecans over the melted chocolate.
  • Allow the toffee to cool completely at room temperature before breaking it into pieces.

Notes

  • Ensure to use a candy thermometer for accurate temperature reading.
  • Store the toffee in an airtight container to keep it fresh.
