Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Oil for frying

For the Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 2 tbsp Sriracha (adjust for heat preference)
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar

Instructions

  • In a bowl, marinate the chicken pieces in buttermilk for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  • In another bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat to 350°F (175°C).
  • Drain the chicken from the buttermilk and coat it in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  • Fry the chicken in batches for 5-6 minutes, until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, Sriracha, honey, and rice vinegar to make the Bang Bang sauce.
  • Toss the crispy chicken pieces in the sauce until well coated.
  • Serve immediately, garnished with green onions or cilantro, if desired.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, you can bake the chicken at 400°F for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Serve Bang Bang Chicken over rice, with a side of vegetables, or as an appetizer.
  • Adjust the spice level by increasing or reducing the Sriracha to taste.
